It’s that time of year on the NFL calendar when there’s no much going on around the league. Big media networks are doing their best to fill the dead air, but diehard fans are focused on just one thing: football. Real, actual football.

Until then, here’s an interesting nugget published by sports analytics expert, Michael Lewis, who reviewed all 32 NFL fanbases to determine which team has the best fandom.
According to his study, Bears fans check in at No. 8.
Here’s what Lewis wrote about his methods:
My approach to evaluating fan bases uses data on attendance, revenues, social media following and road attendance to develop statistical models of fan interest (more details here). The key is that the models are used to determine which city’s fans are more willing to spend or follow their teams after controlling for factors like market size and short-term changes in winning and losing.
One of the reasons why the Bears rank in the top 10, according to Lewis, is their strong brand and impressive history.
So, who’s No. 1? The Dallas Cowboys, of course. They are America’s team, after all.
