Bears expected to sign Cordarrelle Patterson to 2-year deal

Ryan Pace agreed to terms with an explosive play-maker on Tuesday night, but it wasn’t the big name many Chicago Bears fans were hoping for.

As the Le’Veon Bell rumors continued to swirl, the young general manager secured former New England Patriots kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson to a two-year deal averaging $5 million per year.

Patterson is somewhat of a position-less player at this point in his career, doing most of his damage on kickoff returns.

His only kickoff return touchdown of 2018 came against the Bears in Week 7.

On offense, Bill Belichick lined him up everywhere from running back to wide receiver, tight end and in the slot, but he’s still mostly a receiver.

Patterson can be a jack-of-all-trades for Matt Nagy, who is known to get creative with explosive athletes like this.

At the very least, the 27-year-old will improve the Bears kickoff returns, which have been mediocre at best in recent seasons.
