Bears eliminated from NFC North title contention after loss to Packers

Another Bears-Packers game, another disappointing Chicago loss.

For one half of football, the Bears looked like a team that could compete with the Packers, where the offense scored two touchdowns, the defense contained Aaron Rodgers for a quarter and special teams downright dominated.

But that all changed in the second half as the Packers outscored Chicago 24-3, including 17-0 in the third quarter, to cruise to a 45-30 victory on Sunday Night Football.

The loss officially eliminated the Bears from contending for the NFC North title, something that wasn’t going to happen anyway at this point of the season.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy is now 1-7 against the Packers in four seasons, and Chicago has now lost seven of their last eight games and sit at 4-9 on the season.

Believe it or not, Chicago still hasn’t been eliminated from playoff contention, which is due more to the struggling NFC teams competing for a wild-card spot than anything.

The Bears will face another NFC North rival next Monday night when they host the Minnesota Vikings in prime time.
