Bears' Eddie Goldman, Adrian Amos make all-rookie team

Jan. 19--Chicago Bears defensive tackle Eddie Goldman and safety Adrian Amos have both been selected to the 2015 All-Rookie Team, officially announced Tuesday by the Pro Football Writers Association.

In all, 27 rookies from 15 teams were honored in the selections. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks each had four rookies named to the team. St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley was named Offensive Rookie of the Year and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Gurley finished third in the NFL with 1,106 rushing yards and scored 10 touchdowns. Peters tied for the league lead in interceptions with eight while also recording 26 passes defensed (not including interceptions).

For the Bears, Tuesday's news was an encouraging reward for two players who had an immediate impact on their defense

Goldman, a second-round selection last spring, played in 15 contests and was credited in team stats with 39 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks.

Amos, a fifth-round pick, started all 16 games at safety for the Bears, and was credited in team stats with 108 tackles, four passes broken up and one sack.

Both players appear to be solid building blocks for a defense that will strive to continue building on this past season's improvements.
