Bears drop three spots in NFL Power Rankings after loss to Lions

The Chicago Bears’ embarrassing Week 13 loss to the lowly Detroit Lions should lead to sweeping changes this offseason, if not sooner. Matt Nagy and GM Ryan Pace are on the hottest of hot seats right now and it feels like there’s nothing they can do to save their jobs at this point.

The current state of the Bears is best reflected in various NFL Power Rankings around the web, and in the latest breakdown of all 32 teams by the Touchdown Wire, Chicago dropped three spots and into the bottom-10 clubs.

The Bears fell from No. 19 to No. 22.

The Bears marched down to the Detroit 20-yard line with seconds left, but running back David Montgomery was stopped on the run and the Lions came away with the win.

This was a tough loss for Chicago, perhaps erasing any shot they had at the playoffs. Now, the Nagy and Ryan Pace Watch is on.

Bears fans don’t want to admit this, but a win against the Lions on Sunday would’ve actually hurt the future of this team. It would’ve been a meaningless victory for a club that has no legitimate playoff hopes or Super Bowl aspirations in 2020, or anytime soon.

As a result, the Bears’ biggest victory comes via their 2021 NFL Draft position, which got stronger because of Adrian Peterson’s game-sealing touchdown for Detroit.
