Bears defensive lineman Bilal Nichols has broken hand

Bilal Nichols, the Bears’ second-year starting defensive lineman, broke his right hand Sunday against the Broncos, coach Matt Nagy said Thursday.

Nichols is unlikely to play Monday against the Redskins, Nagy said. It’s possible the team could construct a “club” for him to play with in the coming weeks.

Nagy said the fellow Delaware alum is unlikely to land on injured reserve.

The Bears are deep at the position. Not only do they have Pro Bowl end Akiem Hicks and standout nose tackle Eddie Goldman on the line, but they have Roy Robertson-Harris off the bench. He had one sack in the season opener.
