Bears clinch No. 3 playoff seed with tougher than expected 14-9 victory over the 49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. _ The Bears stopped the 49ers on a late attempt at a scoring drive to hold on for a 14-9 victory Sunday afternoon at Levi's Stadium.

The Bears' second turnover of the game gave the 49ers one last attempt to take the lead.

Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson fumbled on a 9-yard, first-down catch at the 49ers' 34-yard line with 1:52 to play. 49ers cornerback Tarvarius Moore knocked the ball out of Robinson's hands and Greg Mabin recovered it.

But the Bears defense came through after the 49ers reached the Bears' 45-yard line, forcing quarterback Nick Mullens to throw three straight incomplete passes.

The 49ers never found the end zone, with former Bears kicker Robbie Gould going 3-for-3 on field goals for their only points.

The game included a fourth-quarter sideline fight in which Bears wide receivers Anthony Miller and Josh Bellamy and 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman were ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Bears kicker Cody Parkey missed a 37-yard field goal wide right with 5:48 to play in the first quarter.

The 49ers took a 9-7 lead into halftime after Gould's 23-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.
