Bears CB Jaylon Johnson is day-to-day with shoulder injury

As the Chicago Bears prepare for Sunday’s pivotal match-up against NFC North foes the Minnesota Vikings, the injury report is worth monitoring.

Rookie cornerback Jaylon Johnson is currently “day-to-day,” according to Matt Nagy, with a shoulder injury he suffered in last Sunday’s 36-7 win against the Houston Texans. While the Bears only held a walkthrough practice on Wednesday, Johnson was listed as someone that wouldn’t have practiced.

Also noteworthy, cornerback Buster Skrine remains in concussion protocol, which means Chicago could find themselves down two cornerbacks facing one of the best receiving duos in Minnesota’s Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson.

On Monday, Nagy indicated that Johnson’s shoulder injury wasn’t significant to the point where he’s hopeful Johnson will be able to suit up against the Vikings on Sunday.

“He’s a tough kid,” Nagy said. “We’ve got to just stay on him, make sure we keep him healthy here and hopefully have him ready for this coming week.”

If Johnson and Skrine are down for the count, expect to see a lot more Duke Shelley and fifth-round rookie Kindle Vildor in Week 15. Shelley saw significant reps in Skrine’s — and later, Johnson’s — absence against the Houston Texans.
