The Chicago Bears may not have an offense that’s hard to stop, but according to coach Matt Nagy, they have an even stronger weapon in their arsenal that will lead this team through adversity as the season marches on: Culture.
“You just build this bond, and it becomes stronger and stronger, and then, as you start getting later and later in the season, you have this culture that is, like, unbreakable,” Nagy said. “And you do it together. And you do it with positivity. You do it with happiness. You do it with a culture that’s hard to break.
“And it doesn’t matter how you do it — you do it. And that’s kind of where we’re at right now. And it’s hard to hold that down.”
At some point, the Bears need to complement that spirit with some rushing yards and explosive plays in the passing game.
Chicago currently ranks 28th in yards per game, 23rd in passing yards per game, and 28th in rushing yards per game.
Even worse, the Bears are 27th in points per game.
Still, Nagy believes in his squad, and at 5-1, he has every reason to remain confident that the offense will get on track…eventually.
“I believe there is something special here with these players and … with the coaches,” Nagy said. “Even though it’s not that fantasy world that everyone wants on offense, it’s not that — what it is is winning. It’s winning football. That’s pretty cool when you think about it.”
