Two players didn’t join the Bears on their trip to London.
As their plane took off for the nearly eight-hour flight, the Bears announced Thursday evening that receiver Taylor Gabriel (concussion) and outside linebacker Ted Larsen (knee) didn’t travel with the team and have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.
That means quarterback Mitch Trubisky (shoulder), defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (right knee) and linebacker Roquan Smith (personal) are en route to London.
Gabriel and Larsen didn’t participate in either of the two practices at Halas Hall this week.
Though Smith and Hicks will be with the team in London, coach Matt Nagy was reluctant to say whether they would play in Sunday’s game against the Raiders.
One day after Smith declared he would play Sunday, Nagy left the 2018 first-round pick’s status for this weekend’s game up in the air, saying: “Again, I’m going to leave it at completely personal issue, and I’m not going to get into any details on that.”
Nagy also said Hicks, who didn’t participate in practice on Wednesday and Thursday but has shown signs of improvement, would be a “game-time decision.”
“He’s getting better,” Nagy said of Hicks. “I feel like this is a day-to-day thing with him, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”
The Bears are scheduled to practice Friday evening in London.
