The Bears are adding another veteran to their tight ends room, signing Jesse James to a one-year deal, sources confirmed Sunday night.

Best-known for his stint with the Steelers, James played the last two seasons in Detroit, where he totaled 30 catches for 271 yards. In four years with the Steelers, he caught 120 passes for 1,189 yards and nine touchdowns.

The 27-year-old Penn State alum was a fifth-round pick in 2015. He’ll join a Bears tight end room that features second-year Notre Dame grad Cole Kmet, veteran Jimmy Graham and little depth beyond Jesper Horsted, J.P Holtz and newly acquired Jake Butt.

Bears veterans report to training camp Tuesday, while rookies and quarterbacks practiced Sunday at Halas Hall. The Bears put running back Tarik Cohen and receiver Dazz Newsome on the physically unable to perform list Sunday, one day after agreeing to trade receiver Anthony Miller to the Texans.
