Bears activate DT John Jenkins from IR, questionable for Week 6

The Chicago Bears are getting back a valuable member of their defensive line heading into an important Week 6 match-up against the Carolina Panthers.

The Bears have officially activated defensive tackle John Jenkins from injured reserve. He was placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn ligament in his thumb against the New York Giants in Week 2.

With the new injured reserve rules in 2020, players are eligible to return from IR after three games. Jenkins practiced this week with the Bears, and he’s been designated as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Panthers.

Jenkins’ return will certainly help a defense that’s struggled defending the run. With Eddie Goldman opting out of the season and with Jenkins’ absence, the Bears run defense hasn’t been at its best.

And heading into a game against former Bears running back Mike Davis, who had 89 rushing yards on 16 carries for 5.6 yards per carry last week against the Falcons. He also added nine receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.
