Bearded baking Viking and TikTok sensation from Outer Hebrides launches new cookbook

A bearded baker from the Outer Hebrides who has become a TikTok sensation with around receiving ten million video views (and counting) is hoping to inspire amateur bakers around the world with his new book.

Inspired by family recipes and traditional Scottish bakes, Coinneach launched the Hebridean Baker on TikTok in 2020.

He's since delighted his followers around the world with his videos teaching people how to bake, forage, speak Gaelic, and how to enjoy a more wholesome, simple life.

Coinneach is now sharing the "Hebridean Hygge" lifestyle with his debut cookbook, The Hebridean Baker, which focuses on small bakes that use a simple, readily accessible set of ingredients.

The new book is filled with recipes that will "unleash your inner Scottish baker", with a big focus on rustic, home baking and old family favourites.

With wholesome, traditional recipes, stunning photography and a generous sprinkling of stories of island life and culture, publisher Black & White say The Hebridean Baker offers a "true taste of the Outer Hebrides".

Coinneach, who was born and raised on the Isle of Lewis and is inspired by traditional family recipes and homegrown produce, will recreate his island adventures with pet West Highland White Terrier Seoras.

Speaking about the launch of his first book which is set to be launched on 16th September 2021, Coinneach said: "I live by the old Gaelic saying beiridh blàths air luaths, which means there is a time for everything.

"I want my book to inspire its readers to do three things: slow down and enjoy life’s simple pleasures, try some of my recipes and come and visit the Outer Hebrides!"

A real treat for anyone who loves Scotland, the Hebridean Baker’s book is packed with 75 recipes including Clootie Dumpling, Scottish Shortbread, Cranachan and Jura Whisky Truffles, and captures Coinneach’s uniquely wholesome, irresistible style.
