Beamish Hall Christmas Fair is back this weekend with a festive treat

The festive spirit gets under way in Durham this weekend as Beamish Hall launches its popular Christmas Fair as part of a sparkling programme of activities.

The country house hotel will be staging its annual Christmas Fair over three days from Friday, November 15 which should give visitors every opportunity to get their present shopping done and dusted in plenty time for the big day.

The County Durham venue likes to start the season of goodwill early and it will be decked out in its finery for the celebrations.

The fair is being described as a "triple festive treat shopping extravaganza" and past years have seen more than 80 stalls selling goodies ranging from hand-made jewellery to Christmas pet toys.

The annual event always aims to create a shopping experience unlike that of the usual high street by creating a stress-free environment that makes browsing for presents enjoyable for all.

And there will be plenty unique gifts on offer from independent and specialist producers selling everything from ornaments to tasty treats and drinks.

As part of its seasonal programme of events, the hall also will be serving festive afternoon teas with Christmas film screenings; wreath-making classes; Christmas cocktail masterclasses and Sunday lunch with Santa events.

The Christmas Fair will run from 10am until 4pm on November 15-17.

For tickets, priced from £4 (under-fives will be admitted for free) see here. Walk-ins to the fair will pay £5 on the day.

There is also the option of an overnight hotel stay for two, including two entry tickets to the fair, for £70 but there is availability is only left for the Sunday night.
