Beach set for sizzling sounds of an eighties summer

A music festival is set to have an Ayrshire beach rocking next month.

Sound On The Sand promises to be a fantastic festival, especially if the sun comes out for it at Ardrossan Promenade on Saturday, August 3.

And it is likely to be a trip down memory lane as some of the big bands of the 80s and 90s get ready to rock doon the watter.

Headlining acts include Hue & Cry, Hipsway, Caezar, The Dunwells, Chris Greig & The Merchants and The Best Bad Influence.

Organised by the Ardrossan Music Experience, the festival previously made a splash with punk rockers The Skids playing into the night before a sell-out crowd.

Ardrossan Music Experience spokesman Peter McNamara said: "We have some great acts lined up for August 3.

"There’s definitely something for every musical taste.

"We are delighted to have secured such a great line-up for Sound On The Sand we are determined to bring the very best to Ayrshire."

The music will start at 1.30pm and run right through until 10.45pm with a licensed bar available. Children under 16 can get in for free if accompanied by an adult.
