Beach Boys, Temptations to play in Aurora

March 01--The Beach Boys and The Temptations will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at Aurora's RiverEdge Park.

RiverEdge Park is located along the Fox River at 360 N. Broadway, directly across from Metra's Aurora Transportation Center.

Online ticket sales have begun for the show at RiverEdgeAurora.com. Tickets are $30 through May 31, and $45 after that.

Phone and in-person sales start March 15. To buy tickets by phone, call the RiverEdge box office at 630-896-6666, or stop by in-person at RiverEdge's satellite box office, the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The Beach Boys have been around for 50 years, and have sold 100 million albums, RiverEdge officials said.

The Temptations are another classic group, known for their Motown smash hits "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," "My Girl" and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone."

Concessions at RiverEdge include domestic and craft beers, wine, sodas, bottled water and more, plus festival food tent vendors selling items from hot dogs to funnel cakes.

New this year, outside food is now welcome in the park. Only soft collapsible coolers no larger than a foot wide and a foot tall will be allowed. All soft collapsible coolers, as well as any other personal items, must fit under a chair and must be stored there once the concert begins. No outside beverages are allowed in, with the exception of two sealed bottles of unflavored water per person. All coolers are subject to inspection.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the Aug. 5 show. The event is general admission only. Guests are encouraged to bring folding and bag chairs, RiverEdge officials said.

Anchored by the John C. Dunham performance pavilion, RiverEdge is a general admission park with a capacity of up to 8,500. RiverEdge Park is managed and programmed by the Aurora Civic Center Authority, which also oversees operations for Aurora's historic Paramount Theatre.
