‘Be so ffr!’: South Carolina Lowe’s manager accepts customer’s Hisense A/C 3 months after return window closed. Then a worker sees the state it’s in

A South Carolina Lowe’s worker had a number of complaints about an air conditioning unit returned to her store. The return allegedly happened three months after the product was purchased. This left her wondering why the manager could allow the clearly dusty, beaten-up unit to come back into the store.

“Customer said he used it once two days ago and it stopped working. Be so [for real],” @leigha.98 wrote in the video’s captions.

In her description, she added, “If it’s not the customers working my nerves, it’s management because why would you return this thing? He was three months outside of the return window, and he’s obviously been having a great time using this thing. He bought it over three months ago and said he used it for the first time two days ago.”

@Ssherman13031 said, “As a former Lowe’s employee ( head cashier ) I would get soooo angry when managers would approve the return on clearly used stuff!”

Another replied, “Burns me up. Like we blind. Returning lawnmowers full of grass but it didn’t work.”

Others had different opinions. @Mrs.Clark wrote, “I mean who cares? Let [them] return it… not coming out [of] your check.”

Lowe’s return policy

Most major appliances and equipment, like TVs, washers, and electronics, have a 30-day return policy at Lowe’s. Air conditioning units, however, have a 48-hour return policy. That’s because A/C units don’t necessarily count as “major appliances,” and therefore have a normal window-for-return

As u/Sojourn_2005 explained, “Air conditioners are not considered a major appliance, so they fall under the normal return window. Having the box and what came in it is good.”

The company states that a customer has to have original proof of purchase to return something like a Hisense A/C. As long as it’s within that 48-hour timeframe, it can come back in-store. It’s possible that a manager at @leigha.98’s store mistakenly accepted a return outside of the 48-hour policy. It’s also possible that @leigha.98 may have been mistaken about how long it had been since the purchase considering she claimed it had been three months since the customer purchased the unit.

@leigha.98 If it’s not the customers working my nerves, it’s management because why would you return this thing?! He was three months outside of the return window and he’s obviously been having a great time using this thing, talking about it broke! Bought it over three months ago and said he used it for the first time two days ago.
