'Be excited!' - Arsenal fans go crazy as Mikel Arteta 'agrees deal' to become new manager

Reports that Mikel Arteta could be named Arsenal manager ahead of this weekend's clash against Everton has got supporters talking.

According to our friends at the Daily Mirror , the 37-year-old a has reached an agreement and is now ready to sign a three-and-a-half year deal after extensive negotiations in the past 48 hours.

In addition, the report states that Gunners director Josh Kroenke has now returned to the United States after concluding talks with the Spaniard and now that the process is done.

The plan is reportedly to confirm Arteta's appointment after Manchester City face Oxford in the Carabao Cup.

Pep Guardiola has already revealed that his assistant will travel with the squad to the Kassam Stadium for what is set to be final game as part of the City coaching staff

"Today I saw him. Yes, he's travelling [to Oxford on Wednesday]," the City boss told reporters. "When we so smart to pick him up and other clubs want him. He's an incredible person. A good manager, good work ethic, that's why he's with us.

"He's talking with Arsenal so I don't know what's going to happen. Yes, I was aware [of the meeting]. He was incredibly honest and transparent with me.
