Bangkok Dusit Medical Service Plc (BDMS) has launched BDMS Wellness Clinic to provide a wide range of personalised services to promote healthy lifestyles and cope with the ageing of global society.
The clinic, which has opened some facilities for patients, is located in the former Park Nai Lert Hotel, which BDMS purchased for 10.8 billion baht in 2016 to develop into a holistic services medical centre.
BDMS is one of the largest hospital networks in Asia-Pacific, with 45 hospitals. The wellness clinic will provide customised health programmes tailored to meet the needs of individual patients.
Raymond Chong, chief executive of BDMS Wellness Clinic Co, said the healthcare industry in Thailand is valued at about 600 billion baht with 8% annual growth.
Thailand has become a key destination for healthcare services and accounts for 38% of Asia's healthcare market, holding the No.1 share region-wide with a projection to increase the share by 14% year-on-year.
Thailand has also positioned itself as one of the world's major medical hubs to support global population ageing and increase the inflow of medical tourists to the country.
As the average lifespan continues to increase worldwide, a greater emphasis is being placed on quality of life: the ability to be active and continue to enjoy daily activities well into the golden years, Mr Chong said.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization, although the global average life expectancy at birth has risen to 71.4 years, the majority of people spend the last 6-10 years of their lives managing illness.
"We are installing medical equipment and decorating the interior," Mr Chong said. "BDMS Clinic is expected to officially open for services this year."

That is why BDMS transformed Park Nai Lert Hotel into a comprehensive preventive medical centre with seven specialised clinics: regenerative, neuroscience, musculoskeletal and sports, cardioscience, digestive wellness, dental, and fertility."
BDMS Wellness Clinic also offers David Health Solutions equipment from Finland and sports medicine experts, as the company is confident that exercise is an effective form of treatment for both healthy individuals and some who are unwell.
