This weekend sees the annual BBC Sports Personality of the Year award ceremony in Salford, where a number of awards will be handed out.
While the main attraction will be for the main SPOTY award, won last year by Lewis Hamilton, another big award is the one handed out for the World Sport Star.
UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov won the award last year and it could be succeeded by another fighting star, with the six-man shortlist including boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez.
The Mexican triumphed against Caleb Plant last month to become the first undisputed super-middleweight champion and has now moved to cruiserweight level, where he's set to fight Ilunga Makabu next year as he seeks to become a five-weight world champion.
Among those up against the boxer is jockey Rachael Blackmore, who became the first women rider to win the Grand National at Aintree with victory on Minella Times and also won six events at Cheltenham back in March.
NFL superstar Tom Brady is also in the running following a seventh Super Bowl win, this time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and also became the NFL's all-time leading passer in October.
Another experienced name who's well-accustomed to the list is tennis ace Novak Djokovic, who came close to the first man in almost 50 years to win all four Grand Slams having won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon - then suffering defeat in the US Open final.
Jamaican Olympian Elaine Thompson-Herah is the penultimate nominee after becoming the first woman to complete the Olympic sprint 'double double', taking gold in both the 100m and 200m.
Finally, Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen completes the list of nominees having won his first title - ending Hamilton and Mercedes' dominance.
Blackmore is the odds-on favourite to take the award, with Verstappen seen as the second favourite for the honour.
