BBC worker has audience laughing in 1987 clip

Belfast humour is on show in fine fashion in this brilliant 1987 footage.

In an amazing throwback clip, the BBC Archive Twitter account shared the moment journalist Esther Rantzen met a fellow BBC worker in Belfast.

Asked if she works for the BBC, the woman tells the presenter: "Yes I do. British Broadcasting on Ormeau Avenue. I'm the lady cloakroom attendant as they call me."

Esther jokes with the woman that nobody laughs at the BBC in London, and the Belfast lady had another sharp response.

She said: "Well they do here because when I laugh the boss knows where I am!"
