BBC Weatherman's brilliant clap back at 'grumpy' viewer complaint

BBC North West Tonight's Owain Wyn Evans had a brilliant response to a viewer complaint about his weather reports.

The popular weatherman was urged by the viewer to stop using his cheery catchphrase 'hello my dahlings.'

But Owain, known as 'the drumming weatherman' for his drumming along with the BBC News theme during the coronavirus crisis, had the perfect clap back.

"Please no more 'hello my darlings', just present the weather!" the viewer messaged Owain on Twitter.

Owain told them: "It’s spelt 'my dahlings' as a matter of fact."

Fans say Owain is a 'breath of fresh air' (BBC)

And with a final flourish he added the nonchalant nail painting emoji.

Owain, whose drumming at the end of one of his forecasts in April went viral and brought a smile to faces of millions during the coronavirus crisis, received a flood of support from fans over the complaint which was branded 'grumpy.'

"You're a breath of fresh air and put a smile on everyone's (almost everyone it seems) face," said one fan.

"You make the weather forecast agreeable even when it's bad news. And I'm not even from the UK."

"As one of your ‘dahlings’, can I just say what a privilege and pleasure it is to have you on this broken planet," said another.

Another fan told him: "You carry on Owain my family love it.

"You’ve kept us going through lockdown.

"We’ve loved your outfits, you really are a stylish person dahling."

And another commented: "Absolutely keep saying ‘my dahlings’!

"We’re not blessed with wonderful weather here but at least we have some fabulous weather presenters to watch.

"I love your sartorial style and your warm personality. Dont change one thing."

Another supporter urged: "You carry on just as you are mate! You've been a breath of fresh air on NW Tonight, and I should mention that my old mum, in her 80s, gets a glint in her eye when your forecast comes on!"

And another fan wrote: "Don't you dare change a thing dahhling!

"You bring a ray of happiness into these thoroughly terrible times. Never stop being exactly who, and how, you are. Hugs and love xxx"

Owain, 36, was bowled over by the supportive messages and said: "I am reading the replies to this which are all just très gorgeoux. Thank you so much.... my DAHLINGS!!! Xxxxxxxx"

And he's now promised 'extra dahlings' during his forecasts.

His drumming has received the thumbs-up from some of his musical idols including Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, McFly's Harry Judd, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles' drummer Aaron Sterling.
