BBC Weather warns that Glasgow temperatures will plummet to freezing this weekend

Temperatures in Glasgow are set to drop to 0 degrees Celsius this weekend, according to BBC Weather.

Cold weather on Sunday has been predicted for much of the week, but the new data confirms that mercury may drop to freezing.

Friday and early Saturday will continue to be mostly mild, with highs of 13C and 12C respectively, and will both see brief rain showers throughout the day.

Temperatures will drop considerably on Saturday starting around 2pm, falling to a low of 5C at midnight.

Moving into early Sunday morning, the city will continue to get colder until around 8am - when the mercury will drop to 3C.

Skies are set to clear up for much of the afternoon, and according to BBC Weather, Sunday "will be a breezy and chilly day but it should be mostly dry and bright".

After the sun sets at around 5pm, however, temperatures will once again plummet - potentially dropping to 0C overnight.

Early forecasts for next predict a very cold week in Glasgow, with Thursday and Friday looking particularly chilly.
