BBC Weather says when 400 mile-wide Storm Fleur will hit Bristol with huge downpours

Storm Fleur is on its way to Bristol this week and is set to bring strong winds and heavy showers.

Experts say the South West will be hit with strong gusts, floods and 19C highs as early as Friday.

By Thursday, the 400 mile-wide Atlantic torment, with 60mph gusts, is on the cards for parts of the UK.

However, according to the BBC Weather forecast, Bristol is set to see moderate wind but with heavy rain showers.

Between Thursday, August 5 and Sunday, August 8 Bristol is set to see temperatures of 19C and gusts of 18mph.

The showers will appear throughout most of the day, however, with chances of sunny spells.

Currently, the outlook says: "Thursday is expected to be breezy and cloudy with heavy outbreaks of rain falling throughout the day.

"Continuing windy overnight and into tomorrow.

"Friday will be mostly cloudy at first, and there will be heavy showery outbreaks of rain during the afternoon.

"Saturday may see some sunshine at first, but there will be some heavy afternoon showers."

It comes after floods in Bristol forced police to close several roads across the city as drivers and residents were affected yesterday.

Last week, Storm Evert swept across many parts of the UK and prompted weather warnings from the Met Office.
