BBC Weather reveals bleak Bristol outlook with threat of 'storms'

BBC Weather has warned of unsettled coniditons as we approach autumn after a mixed summer.

Not everybody would have welcomed the extreme heat warning in July when temperatures surpassed 30C in large parts of the country, prompting calls from health bodies to look out for the elderly and very young.

There's been a mixed weather bag since, with several spells of warm weather for many areas of England, especially in the South West, but there's also been a number of warnings for wind and rain.

While summer is behind us, there's some sunshine to look forward to but wet and windy weather is set to move in.

Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said earlier the UK has been "much warmer than average for the first half of September".

The mercury could tip 21C tomorrow when Bristol looks set to bask in sunshine, while the temperature will dip slightly to 20C on Tuesday.

It's expected to be overcast all week until rain moves in later in the week.

What BBC Weather says about Bristol for the next week

Today: This morning has been largely dull and damp with a band of heavy rain drifting eastwards. Some sunshine will develop in the morning, but further cloud and light rain is likely in the afternoon.

Tonight : Cloud and patchy rain will clear eastwards this evening allowing for some late sunshine. Clear skies will persist through the night and it will turn quite chilly, especially in rural spots.

Tomorrow: After a chilly start, it will be a sunny and dry morning. The afternoon will continue dry and fine, winds will be light and it will feel warm for the time of year.

Outlook: High pressure will build on Tuesday, so a largely settled day is likely with spells of warm autumnal sunshine. It will turn quite breezy overnight into Wednesday, and a band of heavy rain will likely move in from the west through the day. Some uncertainty for Thursday, but it is expected to turn quite unsettled with frequent blustery showers and strong winds.
