BBC Weather predicts when Edinburgh is to be hit with thundery showers

Thundery showers have been predicted for Edinburgh as the weather turns unsettled and chances of snow rise.

After a mild October with temperatures hitting 19 and 20 degrees, Edinburgh will feel more of a chill as we head into November.

BBC weather have forecasted rain for the majority of this week with Thursday 21 and Friday 22 being the exception with sunny intervals.

However, Tuesday October 19, heavy showers are predicted for the city, with the Met Office forecasting the downpour at 3pm.

BBC Weather says that light rain and a gentle breeze will fall over Edinburgh throughout the day and then turning heavier in the evening.

By 8pm, Edinburgh is expected to have thundery showers, according to BBC, with temperatures reaching 16 degrees.

And the lowest temperatures will only hit 10 degrees celsius, according to Met Office for Tuesday.

However after the thunder, Wednesday and Thursday will see lows right down to just five degrees at night before rising to 12 and 13 at the weekend with some sunshine.

According to Met Office, the outlook for Wednesday to Friday is: "Brighter with showers on Wednesday. Turning colder on Thursday with rain clearing to showers, fresh to strong winds. Bright with winds easing and showers dying out on Friday."

And for the remainder of October, the weather forecaster says: "Sunny spells and showers for most areas at the start of this period with some places remaining dry. Feeling breezy at times especially along northern, eastern and southern coasts.

"Temperatures falling to below average for most across the UK, increasing the likelihood of snow and wintery conditions over higher ground restricted to northern areas. It will likely turn unsettled again over the weekend as cloud, rain and stronger winds arrive from the west. Unsettled conditions then likely to persist towards the end of October across the UK. Temperatures most likely trending up after a colder start to this period. Any further spells of colder weather likely short lived and restricted to the north of the UK."
