BBC Weather and Met Office say Bristol temperatures are set to soar amid heatwave

Bristol's heatwave has yet to reach its peak, despite temperatures reaching 26C today (Monday), according to the Met Office and BBC Weather.

Yes, things are going to get even hotter before the week is out.

Tuesday, September 7 will be the hottest day this week, according to both forecasters.

Each says Bristol will reach highs of 28C with bright, clear sunshine. The chance of rain is below five per cent in each forecast, and the sun will set at 7.44pm.

The rest of the week will be less settled: Wednesday morning will be bright and warm once again, but cloud and rain for much of the afternoon and evening, despite temperatures holding firm in the low to mid-twenties.

Thursday is cooler, with highs of 21C and more rain, and Friday should be similarly cool, though drier and potentially with some sunshine early in the evening.

Saturday and Sunday should each see highs of 20-21C, though the chance of rain remains low at 10 per cent or lower.

Bristol weather forecast for Monday, September 6

"Any fog and mist patches from overnight will soon clear, leaving the day fine and dry with sunny spells. Feeling very warm to locally hot. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

"Staying fine and dry to end the day with largely clear skies. Skies remaining clear for most through the night, bringing a risk of some fog patches. Minimum temperature 15 °C."

Bristol weather forecast for Tuesday, September 7

"Largely fine with prolonged sunshine. Turning breezy with a risk of the odd shower over Cornwall later. Feeling very warm to locally hot. Maximum temperature 28 °C."

Bristol weather forecast for Wednesday to Friday

"Heavy showers are possible on Wednesday and Thursday with a risk of thunder. Sunny spells on Friday with further showers. Turning cooler."
