BBC Vigil: New images offer first look into the thrilling series finale

Sunday nights have been met with Vigil, a new thrilling drama from the BBC and makers of Line of Duty.

Set on a submarine carrying Trident nuclear weapons, DCI Silva (Suranne Jones) has been sent down to into depths to investigate a murder of Craig Burke (Martin Compston).

Silva soon realises there is more to this murder and loses trust in all of the crew.

And a word of warning, some spoilers lie ahead for Vigil episode 5, so if you haven't watch that, come back when you have.

It has been a suspenseful build up to the finale with the penultimate episode leaving Silva in a life and death situation.

She had just worked out who the Russian spy is on board who has been sabotaging the vessel and crew, but her work was cut short when Matthew Doward knocked her out and locked her in a missile tube.

Fans have been holding their breath as Silva's fate hangs in the balance.

Now, the BBC have released a sneak peak into the final episode.

Matthew Doward was Silva's suspect as she worked out someone was blackmailing chef Jackie Hamilton before her death. And the fact we saw Doward hit her over the head in episode five, we think she might have been right.
But what is next for Doward? He is still on the vessel.

On land, Kirsten Longacre (Leslie Rose) has been fighting to find out what happened to Jade, Craig's girlfriend, and demanded that HMS Vigil should be brought to port.

Tension has been rising against the police force and the Royal Navy as Rear Admiral Shaw, doesn't want to raise suspicion that something is wrong on the ship.

Of course, it wouldn't be a good look.

The BBC haven't revealed much about this final episode of Vigil but if the rest of the series is anything to go by, it won't be boring.

The images still leaves a lot of questions, where is Silva and the Coxson? Did they make it?

We'll have to wait to watch it on Sunday 9pm September 26 on BBC One and iPlayer.
