BBC viewers in stitches at newsreader's 'brutal' swipe at mum over Halloween trick

BBC viewers were left in stitches at a newsreader's 'brutal' swipe at mum over inventive Halloween hack.

Simon McCoy was speaking on BBC News about how a mum in Arkansas, US, had come up with a 'clever' way of giving out sweets safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking over a video clip of the mother showing off her homemade candy shoot, McCoy explained that she was ensuring sweets would be "delivered safely" on October 31 as Trick or Treating looks set to be cancelled in England.

He went on that the PVC pipes were constructed so that the mum could hand out treats from a full two-metre distance as it stretches from her door to whoever is at the other end of the contraption.

"The transaction is entirely contactless," he said appearing to be stifling his laughter throughout before muttering under his breath: "As will be her social life" as the camera cut back to him in the BBC studio.

And viewers can't get enough of the 'savage' swipe.

"Quality. Worth the TV license alone," one wrote.

Another said: "Savage . Can always rely on @BBCSimonMcCoy to tell you what he really thinks..."

"Brutal @BBCSimonMcCoy! Never change," a third commented.

A fourth simply said: "I C O N I C"

While another also added: "@BBCSimonMcCoy is a national treasure!"
