BBC viewers 'feel sorry' for Graham Norton after 'painful' interview on latest show

Viewers were feeling sorry for Graham Norton on Friday night as he chatted to the stars of the new James Bond film.

The Irishman interviewed Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux, Rami Malek and Lashana Lynch on the show but fans didn't get what they were expecting.

Some labelled the chat as "painful" as Norton was forced to keep asking questions in an attempt to get the interview flowing.

One viewer tweeted: "Jeez. The Graham Norton show is painful this evening … feels like no one wants to be there."

Another replied: "There does seem to be a lack of fluidity. Not sure if that’s the editing though. They normally have 2 hrs of recording to whittle down to 45 mins."

One added: "Graham Norton show super weird and awkward, two of the cast pretending they’d never heard of James Bond prior to being cast."

Another said: "Is it me or is the most awkward and uncomfortable #GrahamNorton show ever. There is an awful vibe to it."

While one more said: "Graham Norton is earning his money tonight pulling teeth with these guests."

Anyone hoping to hear from Daniel Craig did have two options however, as the 007 star was also appearing on RTE's Late Late Show.

Craig told viewers: "Yes. I mean, I love Ireland. I think I want to retire to Ireland if they will have me [laughing].”

The man who plays James Bond was speaking on the RTE show ahead of the latest movie release on September 30, admitting he was very grateful for the role.

He said: "I feel very happy and grateful to be given a chance to make this last one and also very grateful for the fact that we managed finally to get it to cinemas and it not go elsewhere.

"Obviously, a lot has happened over the past year and a bit, and this is so low down the list of priorities, but it was just the hope that we would manage to get it into the cinemas and here we are we got a premiere and everything. So, I am just, I am very excited about all of that.”
