The Apprentice has come under intense scrutiny after it was revealed that contestants has been sent on a ‘no expense spared’ trip to the Caribbean.
The backlash towards the situation was made worse by the fact that the UK are currently in the midst of the cost of living crisis.
This week's episode will feature the group of remaining contestants flying out on a trip to Antigua as part of one of the show's weekly tasks.
In the episode, the contestants will put their sales-patter to the test in an attempt to try and convince tourists to go on tours.
“In these hard times for the BBC, many might expect budgets to be cut and for producers to go for a cheaper option when producing a show like this," a source told The Sun.
"But clearly no expense was spared as the contestants were all flown out to Antigua for what must be the most luxurious foreign trip the show has ever seen.
“There are always British tourists in Antigua and they could not believe it when they were approached to ask to go on one of the group’s tours as part of the task."
The source added: “Surely there’s somewhere closer, and cheaper, they could have taken the hopefuls?”
It is not unheard of for contestants on the show to be flown out to different countries as part of the competition.
In previous years, The Apprentice contestants have only travelled as far as Europe for their tasks abroad.
This includes France, Belgium and Malta. It is believed that the scenes were shot this week and the episode will be aired on BBC later on in the year when the new season begins.
The previous series was won by dessert parlour businesswoman Harpreet Kaur.
The Apprentice has been running on BBC for nearly 20 years (17 years to be exact) and during that time the series has been a cultural event whenever it hits our screens.
The series has been described as a is a 'business-styled reality game show' and was birthed off of the back of the successful American series of the same name.
Each episode features an engaging challenging where some of the countries brightest business minds put their knowledge and patience to the test in order win the respect of the Sir Alan Sugar and his peers.
The boardroom scene at the end of each episode is probably one of the most nerve-racking things you'll see on television, always ending with Sir Alan Sugar saying his signature catchphrase "you're fired!".
