BBC UK weather forecast for June and July warns 'no hot weather'

As we enter the sixth month of the year, many of us are dreaming about sunny days, holidays and dipping our toes in the sea.

After some cold and rainy weeks and months, summer is almost here. But according to forecasters, those of us hoping for a heatwave will have to wait a bit longer.

BBC's UK forecast says we can expect some showers in the UK this week. In the second week of June, we can expect "more settled" weather in England and Wales, with temperatures above average but feeling cooler.

As the weeks roll on, we can expect this pattern of rainy days mixed with settled weather to continue, according to forecasters.

A long range forecast, spanning until Tuesday, July 26, comes with a stark "no hot weather" warning. Experts predict there may be some "slightly above-average" temperatures in most regions, but we should still expect "seasonal" rain.

The silver lining is that there should be "some" dry days, too. As we approach the second half of July, the UK weather could see a "warmer, drier" pattern though as stated, no hot weather is forecast as yet.

The BBC forecast adds: "The Atlantic hurricane season has started and it is expected to be an active one. We will keep a close eye on this as it can disrupt the expected pattern through summer and into autumn."
