BBC The Wheel viewers claim Michael McIntyre is wrong to take away player's £3,000

The Wheel viewers thought a contestant had £3.000 wrongly taken away from them after Michael McIntyre revealed the 'wrong answer'.

Emmanuel was asked a question worth £3,000 by Michael on his new BBC game show.

He asked: "Which of these words appears in the names of exactly two clubs in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season?"

The options were A) Wanderers B) Albion C) United or D) Palace.

Answering by process of elimination, football fan Emmanuel said "So Wanderers, I don't think there's any team in the Premiership with Wanderers as part of their name.

Which of these words appears in the names of exactly two clubs in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season? (BBC)

"Albion, there's West Bromwich Albion, I think they're the only Albion in the Premier League.

"Palace, there's Crystal Palace, but I don't think there's another Palace in the Premiership.

"So I'm angling towards United."

Following celebrity Melvin Odoom suggesting United is the right answer, Emmanuel locked it in as his final answer.

However, Michael then informed the pair, the correct option was Albion.

Expert Jermaine Jenas explained: "It's West Bromwich Albion and Brighton & Hove Albion."

However, many fans took to Twitter claiming that United should have also been a correct answer.

Ben tweeted: "I appeal against that #TheWheel Leeds United and Manchester United are in the Premier League"

Miss J wrote: "I went with United as well. I thought Sheffield United and Manchester United."

Jord said: "West Ham United / Manchester United / Leeds United????"

Derek added: "Wrong. Manchester United and Newcastle United?"

However, while there are Manchester United, West Ham United, Leeds United, Newcastle United and Sheffield United in the Premier League - Michael was only wanting the word that appears in exactly two clubs.

A number of eagle-eyed viewers recognised their error.

Neil tweeted: "People, people, people... The Wheel's question was about the word that appears in EXACTLY two teams' names. "United" appears in 5. They didn't get their own question wrong."

And a second added: "They were actually asking, which word appears in two teams names not "at least two" as the question was given."
