BBC The Traitors series two officially confirmed by Claudia Winkleman with message

The Traitors fans can rejoice as BBC's The Traitors has been officially confirmed for a comeback. The gameshow, with Claudia Winkleman at the helm, will be returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer for a second series.

The news will not come as a surprise to anyone as the first series was a smash hit, with 34 milion views on BBC iPlayer since its launch in November 2022. What's more, the BBC is now looking for contestants to take part in series two.

The second season was officially confirmed via video message by presenter Claudia. Wearing The Traitors' signature cloak, the host said: "Sorry to interrupt, I've got a small question for you. And yes, you're right, the cloak might be giving it away.

"Here's the thing. Can you spot a liar? Could you betray those around you? How would you fare at the Round Table? What I'm asking is... would you like to play? Series two is happening, if you'd like to take part, please visit the BBC Take Part page... and I'll see you at the castle."

The Traitors is a nail-biting psychological reality competition where 22 strangers play the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust, in the hope of winning up to £120,000. Located in a castle in the Scottish Highlands, last year saw Faithfuls Hannah, Meryl and Aaron win the compeition, although they very nearly lost it all to Traitor Will. Speaking about the show's return, Claudia said: "I can't wait to go back to the castle to watch people play the greatest game on television. I’m knitting a high funnel sweater immediately."

While Head of Entertainment at the BBC, Kalpna Patel-Knight, added: "Last year's ambitious and bingeable hit The Traitors with Claudia Winkleman is coming back with the brilliant team at Studio Lambert set to bring viewers another magnificent series full of drama and suspense. We can certainly expect even more deceit and psychological games for the Traitors and Faithfuls."

And CEO of Studio Lambert, Stephen Lambert, commented: "We were delighted so many viewers of BBC One and BBC iPlayer loved the first season. They told us they enjoyed the drama and entertainment of watching our players judge each other, often leaping to false conclusions, but also forming alliances and real friendships. We’re excited to be making a second season with Claudia as together we build on the success of the first." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
