BBC The Responder leaves baffled viewers questioning if they're watching correct show

BBC's The Responder left baffled viewers questioning whether they were watching the correct show.

Monday's edition continued to explore Chris Carson's struggles after the morally compromised police officer retrieved the missing drugs at the end of the second episode.

Chris was planning on handing the stash back to the police before a harrowing appointment with his therapist prompted him to offer the haul to Carl for £30,000.

The character, played by Martin Freeman, is trying to arrange the deal while holding together his crumbling marriage.

Kate Carson has drifted apart from her crisis-stricken husband and is having an affair with his former colleague, Ray Mullen.

She is played in the show by MyAnna Buring and announced her intentions to split with Chris during the third edition of the six-part series.

Before he packs his bags, Chris is outraged to find out about the affair as Ray sees him as a corrupt cop, who wants him removed from his position.

Ray is played in the show by acclaimed actor Warren Brown, best-known for starring in Doctor Who and Luther.

Warren Brown is currently starring in Trigger Point and The Responder (ITV)

The 43-year-old hails from Warrington and is also starring in ITV's police drama Trigger Point, which is currently being broadcast.

Viewers of the Responder have taken to Twitter to claim they have been left confused by the actor appearing in both police thrillers.

Amie added: "Can’t be doing with this guy being in #TheResponder and #triggerpoint, guarantee he’s a wrong’un in both!"

Lucy tweeted: "Good as he is, seems a tad confusing to have Warren Brown playing significant characters in both #TriggerPoint & #TheResponder!"

Anne said: "Oh no! Confusingly, actor Warren Brown is in #TriggerPoint and #TheResponder"

Lauren commented: "Did anyone else just have to check whether they’re watching #TriggerPoint on @ITV or #TheResponder on @BBCOne after seeing @warrenisbrown on screen?"

Sam said: "Who gave this guy a role in two cop dramas on at the same time. This is gonna confuse me. It doesn't take much."

The Responder continues tomorrow at 9pm on BBC One.
