BBC The One Show hosts can't hide laughter after Martin Clunes' dig

The One Show hosts Harry Judd and Alex Jones struggled to hide their laughter after Martin Clunes made a dig on Tuesday evening.

The Doc Martin star appeared on the programme, and following a segment about the cruelty of dog ear cropping in the UK, the actor used it as an opportunity to take a shot at the USA, MyLondon reports.

Harry said: "We know you're a dog lover, what did you think of that?" Martin replied: "I didn't know it was catching on over here. I've seen it in less developed countries like America and places but I think it's pretty hideous isn't it".

The presenters couldn't hold back his laughter on the opposite couch, with Harry snorting and Alex hiding a wry smile, before Clunes continued: "If you want to be macho do something else don't use an animal."

Martin then added: "I think it just reflects poorly on the owners." That wasn't the only thing that had fans laughing. The idea of asking an actor about serious issues like dog ear cropping also tickled people.

One viewer wrote: "The One Show at its bonkers best tonight… 'Well, Martin Clunes, what do you think of dog ear cropping?' This show never misses." Another said: ""Love Martin Clunes but Alex and Harry missed the spearmint gag!"

BBC The One Show airs at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
