BBC One evening show The One Show has had to apologise for mixing up two famous British actors. Last night, Tuesday, February 7, a clip of medical drama, Casualty, from the early 1990s was shown and hosts said Vigil and Peep Show star Paterson Joseph appeared in it, when it was actually longtime Casualty icon, Patrick Robinson. Before signing off for Wednesday evening, host Jemaine Jenas, who was joined by Welsh TV presenter Alex Jones on the green sofa, apologised for the mistake.
The clip, which was from 1992, was shown as actress Anne Reid was appearing on the sofa alongside new Casualty star, Nigel Harman. Reid, star of Wallace and Gromit, Last Tango in Halifax, and more, was guest starring in Casualty back in the day and they'd dug out a vintage clip.
The One Show frontwoman, Lauren Laverne, wrongly said actor Paterson Joseph featured in the clip when it was actually Patrick Robinson. Apologising on Wednesday, February 8, Jermaine said: "We are really very sorry for an error in last night's programme. We showed a scene from Casualty featuring Anne Reid and wrongly mentioned that Paterson Joseph was in the clip as well. It was of course Patrick Robinson who famously played Martin 'Ash' Ashford, Paterson played Mark Grace later in the 90s. Our apologies to Patrick."

Patrick was a long-time Casualty favourite and played Consultant Martin 'Ash' Ashford on and off in the drama from 1990. Originally Ash was a nurse and returned to the programme in 2013 as a Consultant.
He played Ash for a year from 2013 to 2014 and also returned in 2016 as part of Casualty's 30th-anniversary celebrations. In March 2020 Patrick played Marcus Ormansby, a novelist, in “The Trouble with Maggie Cole” an ITV drama with Dawn French.
In June 2020 he played Anthony Bryan in “Sitting in Limbo”, a feature-length factual BBC One drama about the Windrush scandal. In January 2021, he guest starred in Death in Paradise as TV host Garfield Tourné.
He most recently played Father Benedict in series five of The Last Kingdom, in 2022. He was also a Strictly Come Dancing contestant in 2013.
Paterson, a well-seasoned actor on British TV, was in Casualty and played Mark Grace from 1997 to 1998.
Since Casualty he's well known for his role as Alan Johnson in Peep Show, and he's also been in Law & Order: UK, Safehouse, Babylon and most recently played Kamal Hadley in the BBC series Noughts + Crosses.
