BBC takes ‘full responsibility’ for airing racial slur at Baftas

• A senior BBC executive, Kate Phillips, apologised to staff after a racial slur was broadcast "in error" during the Bafta Film Awards ceremony.
• The slur was shouted by Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson during an appearance by actors Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo, and was not edited out of the televised broadcast.
• Ms Phillips said the BBC takes “full responsibility” for the mistake, confirming the broadcast was subsequently removed from BBC iPlayer.
• The incident drew criticism from Labour MP Dawn Butler, who accused the BBC of "an obvious bias" and "failure of duty of care".
• Filmmaker Jonte Richardson resigned from the Bafta emerging talent judging panel, citing the organisation's and BBC's "unforgivable" handling of the incident, while Bafta also issued an apology.
