BBC Strictly fans 'worried' about Craig as judge makes his first appearance in this series

Strictly Come Dancing fans were 'concerned' about the famously sharp-tongued judge Craig Revel Horwood as the long-running BBC dance show returned this weekend. As a new batch of stars took to the dancefloor for the first time on Saturday night, Craig had viewers worried that he didn't seem himself.

Some fans wondered if Craig had been 'replaced' on the contest as he took his seat on the judging panel alongside Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke. Anton, the show's former pro dancer turned judge. also jokingly expressed concern as fans thought Craig was uncharacteristically handing out higher scores than usual in the first week, reports the Daily Star.

As he awarded a six to EastEnders star James Bye, Anton flagged that something didn't appear right, joking: "I'm concerned about Craig." Taking to Twitter, fans agreed that Craig seemed to be acting differently.

One fan @busy1971 asked: "Has something happened to Craig? Two 6's, unheard-of." @_mariiaax commented: "I am also concerned about Craig, he’s normally the only one who scores correctly." And @Vintage_Maggie asked: "Who are you, and more importantly what have you done with Craig?"

@emsmusicalmind said with laughing emojis: "Erm…is Craig Revel Horwood ok? He’s being really positive this week," But @shiftydub40 said: "I'm loving the new Craig." And @SunshineCity83 echoed: "I like that Craig is switching things up a bit this year and being nicer."

Craig also gave a six to Loose Women star Kaye Adams and he was her highest scorer. Speaking after her performance, Kaye admitted: "I mucked up lots of the steps there."

And there was a surprise when Craig stepped in to defend singer Matt Goss when his performance was criticised by Anton. Bros heart-throb Matt performed the quick step with pro dancer Nadia Bychkova on Strictly Come Dancing.

Anton sniped that he had "looked like an unmade bed" but Craig was having none of it. "They're all being really nasty," he said. "That was punchy. It was a really great routine." As host Tess Daly turned to Motsi the judge gasped: "I'm still recovering. I don't know what happened to Craig."
