BBC Strictly fans make same complaint about Carlos and Molly partnership as former pro says 'there's something missing'

Molly Rainford and her pro dance partner Carlos Gu tore up the Strictly dancefloor with an energetic jive to Bandstand Boogie by Barry Manilow on Saturday night (November 19). CBBC star Molly and Carlos, one of the new pro dancers joining the Strictly Come Dancing line-up for 2022, came in at the middle of the leaderboard with their week nine routine.

The pair scored 35 points out of a possible 40 from the judges Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas. However, watching at home former Strictly pro dancer James Jordan thought some was 'missing' in their partnership with Molly 'struggling' to keep up with Carlos, and many fans agreed with one grumbling that Carlos dances "too well."

"It was a full on routine and a great pace for jive," said James, who regularly takes to social media to give his critique after each dance. But he said: "I can see she was giving 100% again this week but there’s definitely something missing in their partnership connection wise with the audience. She did struggle a little to keep up with Carlos." And he added: "It was still very good."

@jonescyndi replied: "Sometimes, the pro dancers dance too well. Do you think Carlos could have been slightly less perfect in order to make Molly look better?" And @beingLsa commented: "I agree with a lot of the people here-my eyes are always on Carlos. I think the best part of Strictly is the pro makes the celeb look good. Teaching them rather than dancing circles round them."

@craftymama24 said: "Totally agree, just something missing for me too." @MyrtleMackenzie said: "It’s because Carlos is soo good a dancer it’s a struggle not to just watch him tbh." And @iamchica wrote: "It looks like she wasn’t able to keep up with super fast feet Carlos."

But fan @lizmfinn took to Twitter to applaud: "Brilliant jive!!" @JoanneMurphy10 told Molly: "You were absolutely amazing tonight, I loved it."

@Johnny_JI81 praised: "Full of content and energy. Molly was brilliant again, decent scores too. Keep going Molly." And @emmarooly gasped: "Whew! That was so full of energy. Loved the choreography, coordinated so well with the music."
