BBC Strictly Come Dancing stars including Kym Marsh and Helen Skelton show off glam makeovers as some ditch the glitter

The stars of Strictly Come Dancing have officially undergone their glitzy and glam makeovers ahead of the news series. The hit BBC One show was set to return to screens on Saturday night (September 17). However, the broadcaster took the decision to postpone.

The start of the 2022 edition of the dance contest was hanging in the balance following the Queen's death and with the launch planned just two days before Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

Instead, this year's Strictly journey will begin on Friday, September 23, at 7pm with the launch show, which was pre-recorded earlier this month, and the first live show will follow the following day, taking place on Saturday, September 24.

The dancing and sparkly juggernaut will return with a bunch of new famous faces ready to learn the difference between the cha-cha-cha and the Charleston. Meanwhile, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be back to host the show and keep the Strictly ship running as smoothly as possible on a Saturday night.

And the show wouldn't be complete without the judges as Anton Du Beke will once again take his place on the panel alongside Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and head judge Shirley Ballas.

And this year, Strictly will mark the BBC’s centenary with a special themed week, alongside returning favourites such as Movie Week, Halloween Week and the much-loved Musicals Week. The show’s return to the prestigious Blackpool Tower Ballroom after a two-year break due to the pandemic will be a highlight.

The 15 celebrities on the line-up were officially announced in full last month and include presenter Helen Skelton, singer Matt Goss and former Coronation Street stars Kym Marsh and Will Mellor. And don't they look glam!

Kym Marsh (PA)

Singer and actress Kym, who starred in Corrie as Michelle Connor for 13 years before bowing out of Weatherfield in 2019, donned a plunging orange dress with, of course, sparkling details all over and a tasseled trim. Meanwhile Countryfile host Helen looked worlds away from her usual job for the BBC as she opted for a bright floral patterned minidress with a slinky strap and other shoulder detailing.

Former X Factor star and Hits Radio host Fleur East, Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds and actress and comedian Ellie Taylor all got the memo on the glitz, dazzling in their first promo shots for Strictly.

Loose Women's Kaye Adams (PA)

Loose Women panellist Kaye Adam went for a more classic, demure look, smiling for the camera as she posed in a pleated navy blue gown with a super thigh-high split showing off her never-ending legs. Kay's last name namesake, comedian Jayde Adams, meanwhile, ditched the dresses for stunning mesh shirt and white trouser combo with added braces before finishing off the look with a pair of silver encrusted brogues.

Former Britain's Got Talent child star Mollie Rainford whose plunging gown featured not one but two thigh-high splits. The blue gown shimmered as she twirled for the camera while an added deep blue rhinestone band round the waist showed off her incredible figure.

And not to leave the men out, Will, Matt, EastEnders actor James Bye, former England footballer Tony Adams, Kiss radio host Tyler West, wildlife cameraman and presenter Hamza Yassin and BBC Radio 2’s Richie Anderson all put their best fashion foot forward and looked incredible dapper.

For their promo shots, it was colourful suits and patterned shirts galore with Richie and James already going all in with mesh, see-through shirts while Matt kept his trademark hat in place with a slick pink suit.
