BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse could be replaced with family member

There are reports that Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse could be replaced by a family member.

The professional dancer has already been confirmed as a judge on hit ITV show Dancing on Ice, which is due to start later this month.

Her eldest sister Motsi Mabuse already appears on Strictly Come Dancing as a judge.

And now it has been claimed that another member of the Mabuse family is being considered to replace Oti, Birmingham Live reports.

Phemelo Mabuse is reportedly at the top of the list of choices to replace Oti if she does not return to the show.

Although Phemelo , the middle sister, currently works as an engineer, she is certainly qualified for the role.

She appeared as a pro dancer on South Africa’s version of the show in 2006, and has competed at World Championship level in Latin American and ballroom dance.

She was also previously a dance teacher.

A source told the Sun newspaper: “Oti is a hard act to follow as a professional dancer and the bosses have been discussing making her sister Phemelo an offer to join.

“Strictly is so family-friendly, and having Oti and Motsi on board has really played into that, so Phemelo could be a brilliant replacement.

"But they would have to make a really attractive offer to get her on board.”

The Sun said a BBC spokesman had decline to comment on the claims.
