BBC Strictly Come Dancing's John Whaite 'signed up to West End show by Andrew Lloyd Webber'

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has been signed up to a huge West End show.

The runner up to 2021's hit show has reportedly been signed up by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Whaite will be on stage for a huge new West End musical this summer, Birmingham Live reports.

John finished second in the last series of BBC Strictly Come Dancing, alongside his pro partner Johannes Radebe.

The ex-Great British Bake Off star, who also frequently appears on Steph's Packed Lunch, won the hearts of the nation with Johannes.

The pair are currently on the Strictly live tour, and will be until February 13.

A source said: “John will take centre stage in the show.

"It’s a dream job for him.

“He really impressed on Strictly and, when Andrew found out John has an excellent singing voice too, he reached out.

“It could be an incredible new start for him.”

John and Johannes have stayed close since the Strictly series ended, with the pair narrowly pipped to the Glitterball Trophy by BBC EastEnders star Rose Ayling Ellis and her pro partner, the Italian dancer Giovanni Pernice.

The Strictly tour continues to tour and will be at arenas nationwide, including Nottingham, until it ends next month, having started in Birmingham on January 20.
