BBC Strictly Come Dancing launch date confirmed as major return announced

The live crowd will make a long-awaited return to BBC's Strictly Come Dancing as show bosses made an announcement over the popular TV show. The launch show of season 20 will be pre-recorded on Wednesday, September 7, it has been confirmed.

Birmingham Live reports that fans now have the opportunity to apply for tickets. Show bosses said in a statement: "Hosted by the very talented and glamorous Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the show will once again come live from Elstree Film and Television Studios.

"Registration is now open to be part of the exciting Launch Show, which is recording in advance of this year's live shows on Wednesday 7 September. As in previous years we are operating a random draw.

"You can apply for tickets for the Launch Show at any time until 10pm on Sunday 7 August. e have a limited number of seats in the studio and as we have such a huge demand for tickets, we are restricting the number of tickets that you are eligible for."

The rules are as follows: one pair of tickets per applicant, and you need to the named ticket holder. Tickets aren't transferable, and tickets for the main series will be allocated in a separate random draw.

There's a fair few changes to this year's series. Bruno Tonioli is out, with Anton du Beke replacing him as judge, and there's a raft of new pros - as Oti Mabuse and Aljaz quit.
