BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans question tensions between Giovanni Pernice and Richie Anderson

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been questioning whether Giovanni Pernice insistence that there is 'no problem' between him and Richie Anderson rings true.

Partnered for the fan favourite dance show, the duo, who scored 32 from the judges in the latest episode of the show - 9 up from last week - were featured on 'It Takes Two' on Monday, October 3. The show is a spin-off from the main programme.

After rumours of tension between Richie Anderson and pro partner Giovanni Pernice, which have been denied publicly by Giovanni, viewers spotted a detail that put doubts in their minds. Last week Giovanni was forced to address viewers insisting there was 'no problem' between the pair.

Speaking about his experience training and appearing as a contestant on the long running show, Richie Anderson told host Rylan: "It's been a long week. Saturday morning I was still making mistakes, I was still going wrong, when we did that kicking thing I was kicking Gio by accident.

"And on Saturday night luckily it all came together, I dunno how, but I'm not mad about it, and it was just fantastic and to get that feedback from the judges was just incredible. One thing that we worked on so hard in training was curbing the enthusiasm because I get out there on the dancefloor and I'm a bit like a kid at a disco. Less is almost more."

Gio said: "Adrenaline. When you get on the dancefloor there's adrenaline and we were working all week to step back a little bit."

Richie added: "I've never been in a dance studio before coming on this show and even though I'm a bit of a show off I still have a bit of anxiety when I step on that dancefloor so to be getting all the love and the comments and to know that I'm in this man's safe hands, I'm having the best time."

Rylan then asked Gio how he's finding his first time being partnered with a male and if he feels jealous letting Richie lead.

He told Rylan: "I actually enjoy it and I watched it back in the 'girl position' and I look good! I enjoy it because it just give me an opportunity to squeeze my brain and bring the best choreography and make the best for Richie but at the same time for me so I'm very pleased and privileged to be able to do it."

But It Takes Two viewers wondered why Giovanni and dance partner Richie Anderson were sat in separate seats - even though Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington shared a sofa earlier in the same episode. According to Yorkshire Live, some even claimed they thought Gio looked 'out of sorts'.

On fan, writing on social media, said: "I don’t think Gio's very happy with Richie as a partner #ItTakesTwo'". Another added: "Why are Gio and Richie on separate seats when Kaye and Kai were on a sofa? Gio looks a bit out of sorts idk?"

But the pair are no stranger to those kind of comments, and in fact in his first It Takes Two appearance of the new series last week, Gio was forced to address rumours of a feud. He said: "Obviously it's a dance competition at the end of the day but we are not...there is no problem between us. We are having a good time. Forget about what you are writing. It's not true."

And on Saturday night's live shows, a message of support from Gio to Richie was picked up by the mics, suggesting Gio has been backing his dance partner.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on BBC1 on Saturday, October 8. Strictly It Takes Two is on BBC Two weekdays at 6.30pm.
