BBC Strictly Come Dancing: Dan Walker's heartfelt response to newspaper asking why he's still on show

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Dan Walker has hit back at criticism from a newspaper questioning why he still remains on the BBC show.

It comes after the latest exit with Adam Peaty and dance partner Katya Jones leaving the programme in week seven.

The presenter has hit back at a newspaper front page that says 'How is TV Dan still in show' and posted a heartfelt response saying just how much he is loving the show.

He wrote on Instagram: "I’m not sure but we are incredibly thankful for all the support and it’s a true privilege to be a small part of the biggest show on the telly.

"I know articles like this are sourced from a few comments on social media but each week I get thousands of messages from people who love the show and are really enjoying watching @nadiyabychkova teaching me to dance.

"When I’ve watched Strictly in the past I have always liked seeing great dancers but also those who learn to love it and are working hard to improve every week. It’s a TV show and not the world championships."

Dan has been one of the lowest-scoring contestants with the judges but has avoided the dance-off and elimination from the show so far.

The BBC presenter will dance with partner Nadiya the American Smooth to King of the Road by The Proclaimers during week eight.
