BBC stars spotted wearing Jamie Redknapp's branded clothing range after rule breach

The BBC is embroiled in yet another row over its stars promoting Jamie Redknapp’s clothing range on air.

The Mirror told yesterday how Freddie Flintoff wore Sandbanks coats on Top Gear, as well as in both promo pictures.

Redknapp’s company used images of Flintoff on its social media in breach of BBC rules, which bans third parties cashing in on the corporation.

But football pundit Micah Richards and presenter Mark Wright, who have appeared with Jamie on Sky, also wore his coats.

In documentary Mark Wright: The Last Chance, he is seen wearing one of the jackets, with its distinctive logo.

Ex-footballer Micah also wore one of the jackets at the FA Cup semi-final between Chelsea and Manchester City.

Both times Jamie’s Sandbanks promoted the images and BBC screen grabs on its social media.

The BBC said neither Mark or Micah have a commercial interest in Sandbanks.

A spokesman added: “The brand in question used stills from our programming without our permission. BBC talent are aware of our guidelines in relation to conflicts of interest.”
