The BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2021 will be crowned in Salford this evening, with teenager tennis superstar Emma Raducanu the red-hot favourite for the award.
The US Open champion heads a six-person shortlist, along with Tyson Fury, Tom Daley, Raheem Sterling, Adam Peaty and Dame Sarah Storey.
Last year’s award was won by Lewis Hamilton after he claimed a record-equalling seventh Formula 1 world title, but the Mercedes driver missed out on a nomination this year after losing his crown to Max Verstappen last weekend.
As well as the main prize, other awards on the night will recognise the teams, coaches and young stars who have shone in 2021, as well as the reviewing a memorable year in sport.

TV channel: The ceremony will be shown live on BBC1, with coverage starting from 6:45pm GMT and the main award being handed out shortly before 9pm.
