Soap actor Iain Robertson is facing a string of serious allegations, including rape and abusive behaviour, following claims made by four different women spanning a period of 16 years.

The 44-year-old, who has played Stevie O’Hara on the long-running BBC Scotland drama River City since 2017, denies all eight charges brought against him.

The accusations cover alleged incidents that are said to have occurred between 2004 and 2020 in various parts of Scotland, including Glasgow and Aberdeenshire.

One of the most serious charges is a claim of rape, with one woman alleging that Robertson sexually assaulted her on “various occasions” between 2018 and 2019.

In addition to the rape allegations,Robertson is accused of a range of abusive and violent behaviour towards her.

Robertson is also accused of assaulting another woman in Glasgow, with allegations including pouring a bottle of wine over her and directing a series of offensive remarks at her.

The trial is scheduled for 2026 (BBC)

He is also said to have subjected the same woman to “controlling” behaviour and psychological manipulation.

The rape allegation is understood to relate to incidents that allegedly took place in both the west end and south side areas of Glasgow.

A third complainant claims the actor was physically violent, including an incident where she was dragged by her hair and forced into a room.

She further alleges that he isolated her from friends and family, and sent unwanted gifts as part of a pattern of intimidating behaviour.

These incidents are reported to have taken place in both flats in Glasgow and a property in Aberdeenshire.

A fourth woman has also accused Robertson of aggressive and coercive conduct, adding to the list of alleged abusive relationships involving the actor.

All of the charges have been strongly denied by Robertson, who has not commented publicly outside of his legal defence.

A preliminary hearing has already taken place at the High Court in Glasgow, where Lord Arthurson has scheduled a full trial for June 2026.

Robertson rose to prominence in the 1996 Glasgow gang film Small Faces.

His TV appearances include roles in Rab C. Nesbitt, Grange Hill, and a documentary series in which he explored hiking trails across Scotland.
