BBC series The Traitors set for triumphant return as fans beg for second series

TV presenter Claudia Winkleman will return for a second series of The Traitors after the game show wins over viewers and sees BBC bosses commission a return for the hit show.

The BBC is reported to have struck a deal with production company Studio Lambert to bring the game show back for another run next year after it's become a huge hit with viewers.

The BBC show follows 22 contestants as they head to a castle in the Scottish highlands to battle it out for £120,000, but all is not as it seems. To get the cash prize, contestants needed to work out which members of the group are secretly working as traitors.

Hitting TV screens last month, the programme became a huge hit with millions of viewers claiming they were 'addicted' to the series, with many turning to social media for theories and tip offs of who the traitors could be.

Now the show is confirmed to be returning in 2023 for a second series, thanks largely to Claudia Winkleman as host.

A show insider told The Daily Star said: “The Traitors has become a big hit after just a few weeks. It was a no-brainer to commission another series.

"Everyone is hoping it will be even more popular by next year and become one of the biggest shows on TV."

They added: "Claudia absolutely loves the show and thinks it’s a brilliant format. It’s basically a done deal that she’ll be back."

The series has won over millions of viewers, including some celebs who have confessed they can't get enough of the 'savage' show.

Corrie star Sally Ann Matthews said: "OMG this show gets camper by the second and it’s ACE."

Comedian Ed Gamble joined in too as he said: "F***ing hell I love The Traitors."

Viewers ran to Twitter in their droves after watching the gripping show unfold to praise it despite many saying they found the suspense and drama horrifying.

Another wrote: "Wowsers!!!! #Traitors on BBC has me shook! Herd mentality is a real thing. I’m questioning all my decisions in life. I need episode 4 IMMEDIATELY!"

"Traitors on BBC is unhinged and the contestants are proper normal people which is refreshing I'm totally addicted", said a third.

Another praised: "Great opening episodes. Safe to say I'm addicted. Shows how some people are just followers. Faithful vs Traitor. Great tv, BBC."
